Wilson Caps Off Southern Super Series Season with Top-Five Finish

Donnie Wilson had the 2016 Southern Super Series championship wrapped-up heading into the final race of the year Saturday at Five Flags Speedway.  Still, the Oklahoma driver showed why he was this years champ by racing his way from his 13th qualifying position to a fourth place finish.  

Wilson Wins Alabama 200

Donnie Wilson dominated the Southern Super Series Alabama 200 leading nearly three-fourths of the race. A poor restart with just over 50 laps to go found Wilson back to the fourth position, but he rallied over the final laps to reclaim the lead and take the checkered flag.  With his win, Wilson clinches the 2016 Southern Super Series Championship.

Wilson Brings Home Top-Five at Mobile

Donnie Wilson raced in the front of the field for much of the Southern Super Series event at Mobile International Speedway Saturday Night. The Oklahoma City, OK driver was running second at the 75-lap halfway break, but used up his tires trying to take the lead and settled for a fourth place finish in the Lee Fields Memorial. Wilson still holds the SSS point lead by 61 points.

Top-Fifteen Finish for Wilson at Five Flags

Donnie Wilson qualified fourth for the Southern Super Series 125-lap event Friday at Five Flags Speedway.  After racing in the top-five for the first half of the race, he slipped back in the field over the final 50 laps, earning a 14th place finish.  He still leads the SSS point standings.
